about

Softly floating wisps across the warm summer sky. I started just playing to it to them and responding to the breezes and gusts that ebbed with of stillness and the seasons to come. Sam's piano is in your right ear, my acoustic guitar in the left -- we follow and echo each other perfectly -- we call it being in Midi Mode. I wrote the beginnings of this having a picnic in the park one day, just watching clouds go by. Later, I played it for Sam and he chimed right in on piano, bringing out every nuance, with knowing. I can tell immediately this song is now also completely his, he adds the sad, alternating note bridge, filling in the missing darkness like a knowing twin. When we went to lay it down for he studio session, Sam lifted the melody onto wings, as it were, playing recorder (that I had no idea he could play). The amazing violinist, Charlie Bisharat, came in to handle the sad bridge and some striking harmonies.
When you hear the song, you'll hear me playing the guitar in your left ear, which I initially laid down, and then Sam on piano in your right ear, which he matched and elevated every move I made with surgical precision, note for note, cloud for cloud.
